Redemption
After a tough year in 2022, we were thrilled to set free over 700 people in 2023–that’s 152 families whose lives have been radically changed! It was an epic year, stepping into the tragedy that consumed so many people and bringing the gift of a new life. Thank you to our donors–you are all amazing!
Afsal Masih Family
One of the most awe-inspiring aspects to the Freeslaves work is the ability to lift people out of emotional despair and give them a joy that overwhelms their grief. The Afsal family is one such story. Seven years ago they took out a loan to pay for the medical care of their son. Sadly, the son died, and the whole family was left enslaved with a weight of grief of the past and a sense of hopelessness for the future. But then…in a single day, their life was flooded with the joy of being set free.
Thank you so much to our donors who made this happen! You will never fully know the impact your love and generosity has had. It will profoundly affect this family for generations to come!
See the joy of some of the redeemed families of 2023!
Education
In 2023, we were thrilled to start a new school at our base in Yohanabad. This took the number of students in our schools to 301 and the number of schools to eight. We also began adult education classes. Overall, our spending on education for the year was $5052 USD–only about a quarter of what it should be. Education is one of the most underfunded aspects of what we do, yet it is the key to building a future for these children. Thank you to those who are giving to education–you’re creating a bright future for these children!
Aid Work and Community Development
In 2023, we helped many communities with essential support, providing clean water and emergency food and supplies to those in need. In August we helped families that had their homes burned down after a Christian man was accused of blasphemy. We are so thankful to all those who responded and gave to help us meet the needs of these people.
Refugee Work
In 2023, we continued our support a Pakistani refugee community of 15 families, giving $12,540 USD over the course of the year. We are pleased to see that more families are receiving sponsorship to relocate to Canada and Australia. Thank you to all those who supported these families.
Health and Nutrition Camps
Our medical, health and nutrition camps are still a critical part of our work. At each of our camps, we treated up to 100 people as well as providing support for people who needed care from the hospital. No one was turned away from these camps and so people young and old came for treatment. It’s a sad reality that many, if not most, of the people enslaved at the kilns can’t afford to see a doctor or buy medicines. You can imagine their relief when these people are able to come for free advice and supplies. Thank you so much to our donors who are making this all possible!
A Word from Emmanuel
Our Pakistan Project Director writes:

Final Thanks
The words “thank you” seem to fall so far short of expressing the gratitude that we have towards our donors for their incredible generosity that made 2023 an standout year. Even with so many challenges, to set free over 700 people is a stunning result. So on behalf of the NZ team, the Pakistani team, and all those families who have had their lives forever changed, THANK YOU!!!
I would also like to thank the volunteers in New Zealand, including the Charity Board for their unwavering devotion to the project. You have made so much possible with so little for so long, and it is not unnoticed. Thank you.
And to all our donors, we realise that you’ll almost certainly won’t ever meet the people you’ve redeemed. But rest assured, you’ve changed their lives and the lives of the generations to come. We hope you feel something of the joy that you’ve created for these families. We look forward to continuing to work with you all in 2024.
With all gratitude and love,

Geoff Woodcock
